In addition, each team member has at least fifteen years management experience in Human Resource operations. PHILIP BARQUER, SPHR
Philip is President of HR Alternatives. During his 30 years of experience, Phil has held key HR management positions and directed HR functions for corporate and field operations for companies in the technology, healthcare and manufacturing industries. As a founder of HR Alternatives, Inc., Phil has provided expert advice to hundreds of companies on employee relations, compensation, benefits, management development and human resources best practices. Phil holds two undergraduate degrees including a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from California State University, Northridge. He also holds a Professional Designation In Industrial Relations from the University of California, Los Angeles and is certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR). Previous leadership roles include member of the National Board of Directors for the Society for Human Resource Management, President for the Professionals In Human Resources Association, and Board of Directors for the Orange County Chapter of the American Red Cross. Philip is a current member of the Society for Human Resource Management, Professionals In Human Resources Association, and a CEO member of VISTAGE.
STEPHEN VAMVAKETIS, SPHR
Steve is a certified Senior Professional in Human Resources and a UCLA graduate. He attended the Anderson School of Management during his business management studies. His HR career spans 20+years as a HR generalist built upon supporting start-up through Fortune 1000 enterprises. Steve’s broad expertise encompasses strategic elements such as Organizational Development and change management. His tactical skill set covers the full spectrum of HR role and responsibility including labor law, leave law, policy design and development, employee relations, talent management, training, and total rewards. Combined with his prior career in operations management, Steve’s experience spans numerous industry sectors. These include manufacturing, retail, information technology, business services and education.
STEVE KING, SPHR
Steve has over 30 years of HR Management experience. He has proven credentials in the manufacturing, technology and transportation sectors. His hands-on experience includes working with start-up organizations, as well as providing guidance for Fortune 500 enterprises. His broad range of Human Resource management experience includes specialization in compensation and affirmative action programs. Steve holds a Master of Science degree in Management Science and a Bachelor of Science in Business, both from Oregon State University. Steve has served in leadership roles with the Society for Human Resource Management, the American Compensation Association, the Western Pension Conference, and the Labor Relations Committee of the US Chamber of Commerce.
NANCY MELLINGER, SPHR
Nancy has over 25 years with Executive Human Resources responsibilities in corporate, field, and multistate operations. Nancy has assisted many organizations in high technology and manufacturing industries to design, modify, and implement programs that encompass the human resources function. Area of expertise include, job analysis and job description development, employee/labor relations and various forms of training from leadership/supervisory to awareness training, and human resources policy and procedure development. Ms. Mellinger is a member of the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM), and the Professionals in Human Resource Association (PIHRA). She served as President of PIHRA and was the Leadership Director, SHRM Area Board. Nancy has been an instructor in the human resources field for over 10 years at Chapman University, UC Irvine and Riverside. Nancy is a certified as a senior professional in human resources (SPHR). She received a Master’s degree in Organizational Development and has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with an emphasis n Human Resources from California State University at Fullerton.
David is the business manager for HR Alternatives. He has spent over 30 years establishing, acquiring, managing and selling businesses, ranging from publishing and entertainment to environmental and tech. His astute business instincts, tireless work ethic and excellent communications skills perfectly suit his position with HR Alternatives. His day-to-day role includes strategizing and implementing company policies in the areas of sales, marketing, client retention and new business development. His real world experience as a business owner provides a unique perspective on the myriad of HR challenges faced by our clients.
